The Spirit of Georgetown is the Georgetown Ministry Center’s premier annual gala, raising vital funds to support and empower the homeless community in Washington, D.C.
The Challenge
Create branded marketing materials for the gala event which included:
Asset Modernization: Revitalize legacy branding by transforming low-resolution source files into high-fidelity vector assets, ensuring scalability and visual consistency across all gala materials.
Brand Continuity: Developed a comprehensive style tile by meticulously extracting colors and typography from legacy assets. This ensured the new designs felt modern while remaining instantly recognizable to the gala’s long-standing donor base.
Audience Accessibility: Bridg the communication gap between stakeholders and service recipients. This required tailoring messaging and distribution methods to ensure event information was accessible to both the donor base and the neighbors the gala serves.
The Solution
To address these challenges, I implemented a design system that bridged the gap between GMC’s heritage and a modern, celestial-inspired aesthetic. By vectorizing the original "Spirit of Georgetown" assets, I produced high-end collateral—ranging from printed invitations to elegant digital banners—that captured the 2025 gala's theme.
The visual identity featured:
A Celestial Palette: A deep teal-to-cyan gradient background paired with crisp white typography and a distinctive light-blue heart icon.
Detailed Illustrations: A custom-vectorized Georgetown skyline silhouette used as a grounding visual element.
Dynamic Typography: A sophisticated mix of bold sans-serif lettering for clarity and fluid script for the event title.
To ensure the organization’s long-term success, I provided a strategic handoff of all source files and a style tile. These templates were specifically designed to be user-friendly, allowing the client’s internal employees to further customize event details and text as the gala planning progressed.
The Impact
Increased Brand Integrity: The vectorized assets allowed for seamless, high-quality production across all platforms, ensuring the skyline and logos remained sharp at any size.
Operational Flexibility: By delivering customizable templates, I empowered the internal team to make real-time updates, reducing their reliance on external design support and streamlining their internal workflow.
Visual Cohesion: Established a unified look across digital and physical touchpoints, creating a professional and inviting "first look" for potential donors.
